Whether you celebrate the holiday or not, it’s almost impossible not to know Halloween is right around the corner. Horror movies like Jigsaw and Amityville: The Awakening are being promoted. The candy aisle at Meijer is barren as a ghost town (until it’s fully stocked again in the near future). And your friends on Facebook will soon be posting selfies in costumes.

Scary-looking properties are very appropriate for the Halloween season. If you think about a haunted house, there’s a pretty good chance you’ll envision an old, decrepit house. The yard is likely unkempt and overgrown. And we’ll bet the driveway in your mental image isn’t smooth and paved!

Actually, if you were a set designer for a Hollywood studio, and your haunted house had an expertly-paved driveway, you’d probably be fired on the spot by the director:

“Why does this driveway look like it was paved by Stripe A Lot?! It’s supposed to be rundown and uninviting! Where is the set director? They’re fired!”
