Tips for Keeping Paving Costs to a Minimum

by | Aug 18, 2017

No matter if you have one business property, manage a portfolio of different properties, or simply own a home and properly maintain it, you will want to keep paving costs to a minimum. It’s only natural, after all, to want to keep any costs to a minimum. Now, we can’t necessarily help you determine how to best keep transportation or inventory costs down, but we certainly can offer some advice when it comes to your pavement!

  • Be Proactive, Not Reactive. We’ve discussed this previously here on our blog, but you can drastically extend the life of your parking lot or driveway with preventative maintenance. This can entail repair cracks, sealcoating the surface, and even taking measures to keep it clean. When you do any upkeep for your lot or driveway, make sure to track it. This will give you a basis so you can plan ahead and prioritize any larger projects that might need to be done. Remember, in just about any area of life it’s a hundred times better to be proactive than reactive; property maintenance is no exception!
  • Budget for Major Work. No matter if we’re talking about a household budget or budgeting for a large business, it’s important to plan out where your money is being allocated. When it comes to pavement maintenance, keep in mind the fact there is always the possibility of unexpected damage and major, capital-intensive projects that need to be done. You can better weather these proverbial “storms” by looking ahead and developing a budget that anticipates them. Doing so will ensure that you are prepared to handle them.
  • Plan for Growth. If you are a business-owner, your goal is likely to grow your business. Doing so can require hiring additional employees, purchasing greater quantities of inventory, and quite possibly even using more space. No matter if you are expanding a current location, or acquiring extra ones, one of the best ways to make sure you have a consistent cost model for year-over-year growth, while also saving time, is to rely on one company for all of your paving needs. Make things easier on yourself by partnering with a leading pavement company that provides comprehensive services and places an emphasis on quality and customer satisfaction, like we do at Stripe A Lot.
  • Have One Point of Contact. Tying in with the previous point, you can simplify your life and your job by utilizing a single point of contact. It’s a lot harder to manage everything when you have one company doing the paving, another perform drain work, and still another one to stripe the lot when everything else is done. Instead, make it easy on yourself by hiring a one-stop operation to handle it all for you.
